Call for Papers

KazTEA Conference ‘Excellence in English Teaching and Research for better learning outcomes’ is designed to enhance competency-based EFL teaching as well as develop EFL teacher’s proactivity via sharing best practices.

Those who would like to have their papers published must submit them to the Organizing Committee to KazTEA_2014_paper@gmail.com before March 25, 2015.

3-6 page papers will be published Online with an IBSN on KazTEA and University partners’ websites. Papers can be written in three formats: Research, Teaching Practice and Commentary, and in one of the 3 languages: English, Kazakh and Russian. Please, make sure that your paper reflects your study and abstract. The clarity and flow, originality, significance, and detailed description of the study all effect the committee’s decision.  All submissions will be checked for originality. Authors bear full responsibility for their paper content, punctuation, stylistic and grammatical organization.

Topic areas:

1. Teacher’s role in EFL classroom for better learning outcomes
2. The ESP classroom for the workplace
3. Tips for teaching English for young learners
4. Interactive White Boards and E-teaching in the language classroom
5. From passive English learners to critical thinkers
6. Language and Culture crosswords’ answers
7. Action research as the way of professional development

Guidelines for papers:

1. Please, define what kind of paper you are going to present:

2. Please, follow the instructions according to the defined type of paper:
   1. RESEARCH:

Research highlighting ongoing research projects in the region on one of the above mentioned topic areas:

Paper structure:

1. introduction
2. literature review
3. methodology
4. results
5. discussion
6. conclusions
7. implications
8. list of references

Maximum 3,000 words.

2)TEACHING PRACTICE:

Teaching Practice focusing on classroom-based and action research based on the topic areas, which is more directly related to the realities of language teaching in the region.

Paper structure:

1. a well-researched literature review which addresses all concepts included in the paper,
2. a methodology section detailing data collection and / or approach employed in the classroom,
3. discussion
4. conclusion sections which should include specific, practical recommendations applicable in diverse contexts
5. list of references

Maximum 2,500 words.

3)COMMENTARY on:

• Current issues related to language learning and language teaching
• Discussion of language policy and related impact in the region
• National and international policies, not limited to language policies, which may have an impact on the learning and/or teaching context in the region or internationally

Commentary focusing on current issues that relate to the topic areas in the region.  Commentary should be well researched and include current references that support the main points of the paper. Commentary papers focus on a balanced report and discussion on current and emerging issues in Kazakhstan rather than on argumentation.

Maximum 1,500 words.

FORMATTING guidelines:

1.         Please use A4 paper size, with all margins set at 2 sm.

2.         Use Times New Roman 14 pt. font and single line spacing with 0 pt. spacing before and

after throughout the paper.

3.         Papers should be saved in format *.rtf  with no pages indicated

4.         The layout of the page (see the Template) includes:

UDC is in the upper left corner; in a single interval there is the title (in italics, bold); in a single interval there is your academic title, academic degree and name. On the next line there is the name of the institution, city and country.

The paper should be preceded by an abstract in other two languages. For papers in the English language there should be an abstract in Kazakh (Түйін) and in Russian и (Резюме). For papers in Russian there should be an abstract in Kazakh (Түйін) and English (Summary). For papers in Kazakh there should be an abstract in Russian (Резюме) and English (Summary).

5. In a single interval there is a main text with single line spacing, list of reference used within the text and marked as [1]. References on the list are given in the order they are given in the text and have the following formatting: initial and family name of the author, title of source, place and publish house, year (for conference proceedings: city, country, year).  

Publishing fee online with an IBSN: 500 tenge

Important dates: Paper Submission Date:  March 25, 2015

Decision of Acceptance/Rejection:  Within 5 days of submission after receiving the paper.

Payment: when you’re informed that you paper has been accepted requisites for payment will be sent to you as well.

No late submissions will be accepted!
